Carriage Hills Park

1810 Broyhill dr (off Mobile Hwy)

This is a small neighbourhood park which is not well cared for. We did like the old-school climber. This Sand park has placed that look burnt, graffiti ridden, and bent. When we were there, there was what appeared to be urine all over one of the slides. There was a very large covered picnic area. Parking was difficult at this park.

Avondale Park

6809 Vestavia Ln (near Saufley Field Rd)

This newly remodeled park was made for older parksters in mind. There are no toddler swings and the play structure is very tall. There is a basketball court here. There are many climbing opportunities here including some I have seen in very few other parks. There is a large covered picnic area too. Parking is curbside at this sand park.

RL KING Park

7436 Lenora St (off of Patricia Dr)

Wow, this park is huge! It boasts a play structure, covered picnic area, a small shaded area, swings for toddlers and bigger kids, paved track, benches, and an actual jungle gym. The boys absolutely loved climbing the dome of the jungle gym and playing inside of it. There is endless room to run around. Not only are their slides on the play structure, but there is also a taller triple slide that stands alone. There is one major problem: kids who can read will boost their vocabulary in some not so nice ways. We found at least the F word and C word. There was also a wooden panel in place of something on the play structure as well as some not to well kept parts. The sand seemed clean and the grass well kept. Parking is curbside.

Tulip Park

4855 Tulip Drive of of 50th (between fairfield and lillian)

This is a surprisingly nice park at the end of a little side street. The Play structure has an interesting shape and several things to do. There are also benches, swings, picnic tables under a pavilion, and an open field. Parking is a major concern with this park.
